Assassin's Creed Reveals Bizarre Attack on Titan Crossover for Holiday Season
In a unexpected partnership that challenges conventional forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing free extra story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Adventure Revealed
According to the authorized release, "An unusual confrontation leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where whispers of banned rituals and fearsome changes echo through the darkness." The plot presents a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who charges the characters with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a secret sect.
The questline concentrates on "strange experiments and a terrifying adversary" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Familiar Settings and Metamorphoses
The preview showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview ends with a dramatic sequence showing a character, presumably the hostage, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Rewards and Extra Material
Players who finish the quest will obtain an exclusive katana together with multiple items secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Exclusive weapons
- Survey Corps mount
Newest Free Story Update
This patch also introduces the game's third complimentary story episode, titled "The Mystery." This humorous quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature skills: Naoe debuts a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also features a new environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Past Japanese Animation Crossovers
This marks hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime series. The series previously featured a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally contained a quest that obviously referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
